Why Are You Walking? Good question!
Let me "Walk" you Through It...

Day #151

I picked up Debbie early this morning and we headed over to Orr's Farm to do the "Buffalo Loop", which took us 1 hour. Believe it or not, by 9:00ish it was already a little "toasty". It was a nice walk and it was great to walk with Debbie again. Heck, it was great to see Debbie again because of my schedule last week, we didn't get to see much of each other the whole week.

Day #150

Well, my 150th day of walking snuck up on me. I've been so busy, basically on auto-pilot, that I didn't realize I was hitting another walking landmark. Wow...that's a lot of days! To re-cap...I haven't walked for two of those days: One because I was in pain from a fall and the other I don't remember the reason. I've also had a handful of wimpy walks (less than 30 minutes) All in all-I'm very pleased with how I'm keeping myself motivated and finding the time to stay active, and let me tell you, at times it hasn't been easy!

With that said....yesterday Pierre and I took more of a stroll than a walk. I guess you could say we sauntered, yes, we sauntered for 35 minutes! After the week I had, it felt damn good too! :o) We walked out by the buffalo--we enjoyed the scenery and spending time with each other.

Day #148 and #149

Day #149, Saturday:
Tonight we are going out to dinner to celebrate Keegan's graduation. I dropped him off at work at 7:30 this morning and I was at Orr's Farm by 7:45 ready to walk! I did the Buffalo Loop and I walked for 58 minutes. I went grocery shopping after my walk and I am going to use the remainder of the day to clean and organize.

Day # 148, Friday:
Creative Walking 101:

I knew getting my walk in yesterday was going to take some effort, so I made sure to walk to school in the morning (15 minutes). I know it isn't much but I figured it was at least something! My son Keegan graduated from high school last night, so I didn't know what the afternoon was going to entail. The graduates had to show up an hour early and I wasn't sure if I had to drive him, but he was able to catch a ride from a friend. I got in a half hour walk around the neighborhood as soon as I got home from work. I had enough time to shower and get over to his graduation in plenty of time!! :o)

Day #147

Back into the stress pit today, BUT I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think I'm through the worst of it. I will say however, it's not a good sign when I'm forced to make dinner reservations from my cellphone at 8:50 at night (while I'm taking my very late daily walk) because I've been so busy all day that I couldn't find a free moment to call! On a positive note: reservations are made and we are all set for going out to dinner on Saturday night! :o) Yeah!

Creative walking plan: I didn't get my walk in until 8:45 tonight. My friend Tom came over to the house because he wanted me to cut his hair...I wanted him to walk with me first, but just as we were about to walk out the door I remembered my son needed to be picked up at work! Ahhh! It's not a good sign when you almost forget that you have to pick up your son from work! Tom drove over to pick him up, and I walked over and met them there. It took me 19 minutes to get from our house to Chicky. After we brought Keegan home, Tom walked with me for an additional 25 minutes for a grand total of 44 minutes. It was disgustingly hot and humid, but I have to say it was a good walk because I power walked the first 19 minutes, and walked at a fast pace for the remainder of the time.

When we got back to the house, I cut Tom's hair and practically kicked him out the door because I was so tired. I'm sorry Tom, but thanks so much for walking with me!

I had three back-to-back meetings today that lasted all day(hence the stress), but I did take a little bit of time for myself this afternoon. Immediately following my third meeting, I went to have a pedicure done, then Pierre and I went out to dinner. It was so relaxing...we laughed a lot and I enjoyed spending time with him. I feel like I have seriously neglected him this week because of my busy, crazy, hectic schedule. We have to plan some serious date nights over the next few weeks!

Bottom line...I'm beat, but I got my walk in! ;o)

Day #146

I'm still a bit stressed, but much better than yesterday...the problem is that everything in my life is hitting at the same time: work stuff, graduation, dinner plans after graduation, driving my son to the airport, my other son leaving for his camp job, applications due, paperwork due, state inspection for both cars due, trying to work on my website, and of course that doesn't include every day normal stuff....AND my walks!

Tomorrow is going to be hideous again. I have to run an all day meeting--and I mean all day--from 8:15 to 3:30ish with about 30 minutes for lunch. School ends at 3:45 and then I have to zoom over to the board office for a meeting from 4-6:00. That means I zoom home--fix something for dinner and then zoom out the door again to talk my walk.

My recipe for success is to deal with it all by taking each task one bite at a time...no pun intended! I do one thing at a time and check it off my list and by the time I get to Monday...life should be smooth sailing again! Yeah!

I walked over to the track tonight, walked around the track, and then walked home for a grand total of 45 minutes....thank god for my walks because they really help me let go of some of the stress I'm feeling! And now I am off to bed because tomorrow is going to be a long day.

Oh, it's never a good sign when you start dreaming about your job and your co-workers like I did last night--Jeannie Pops! Enough said! LOL!

Day #145

Stress, stress, and more stress! I was in a meeting all day, in a meeting after school, ran errands after wards, and didn't get home until 7:00. I felt majorly stressed out, and quite honestly, all I wanted to do was eat. I also felt myself wanting to throw myself down in a chair and not take my daily walk. Instead...I told myself to stop feeling sorry for myself, I didn't allow myself to gorge, and I went to the track and jogged for 34 minutes straight--a new record for myself!

I walked for 3 minutes, jogged for 34 minutes, walked for 2 minutes= 39 minutes!!!!!

~My jogging goal#1:
10 minutes straight/Completed it today by jogging for 13 minutes straight!! (1 mile...the slowest mile ever, but I know I'll get better!)

~My jogging goal #2:
14 minutes straight/Crushed it today by jogging for 23 minutes without stopping!

~My jogging goal #3:
24 minutes straight/Completed this goal by jogging for 34 minutes with stopping!

~My jogging goal #4:
30 minutes straight/but jogging faster than normal, in other words....step it up!

Day #144

Today was busy from start to finish- boy am I tired! Immediately following school, I had to pick Keegan up from work, and then as soon as I dropped him off, I headed back to work. After I finished my paperwork, I headed out front and walked the hill in front of the school-up and down- for thirty minutes. After my walk, I headed home to pick up the kids and then we headed to the mall in Hagerstown to shop for camp stuff.

Sunday, May 23, 2010

Day #143

Busy, busy, busy day! T & K invited us to join them at Chick-Fil-A for the employee tasting of the their new Spicy Chicken Sandwich. We learned about testing, marketing, and preparation of the product. Of course we were able to try it too! :o) Very good! After Chicky, we went shopping for camp supplies and then Tyler and I headed over to see the Bison and we walked for 40 minutes.

Saturday, May 22, 2010

Day #142

Debbie and I headed over to the C&O Canal this morning and walked for 1 hour and 45 minutes--the time flew, mostly because I was talking her ear off. What can I say...Debbie is a good listener! :o) She even tolerated me calling two minutes late this morning...ha ha ha! After our walk, we headed over to Old Navy for their $1 flip flop sale. It turned out to be a flop! The line was wrapped around the store and we didn't feel like waiting. Oh well, no $1 flip flops for me!

Friday, May 21, 2010

Day #141

Tyler and I headed over to the track and I set a new jogging record for myself...I jogged for 23 minutes without stopping! I crushed my jogging goal #2 which was 14 minutes! To recap the day...I walked for 5 minutes, jogged for 23 minutes, and then walked again for 3 minutes= 31 minutes total!

~My jogging goal#1:
10 minutes straight/Completed it today by running for 13 minutes straight!! (1 mile...the slowest mile ever, but I know I'll get better!)

~My jogging goal #2:
14 minutes straight/Crushed it today by running for 23 minutes without stopping!

~My jogging goal #3:
24 minutes straight

Day #140

Stress, stress, and more stress....thank goodness for my walk tonight! Debbie thanks for the walk AND the talk! I needed both! We headed over to our favorite spot and did the Buffalo Loop. I really love it over there...the landscape and surroundings is "food for my soul". Seriously! We walked for an hour.

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Day #139

This has been a very hectic week, AND my body is still hurting, BUT I am starting to feel better with each passing day! This evening I headed out to do the Buffalo Loop, but only ended up doing a little bit more than half of it....I guess I did the Buffalo U! I walked for 40 minutes.

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

Day #138

My body feels like it's been used as a punching bag today...I'm still really sore from my fall on Sunday. It's now Tuesday night--and this must be a sure sign that I'm getting older--being sore two days later! Ahhh! I did the Buffalo Loop Walk tonight, and curiously enough, I didn't see any of the Bison! I guess they were hiding! :o) The entire walk took 59 minutes. It was cold, gray, windy, and rainy...but regardless, it sure was pretty out there tonight!

Monday, May 17, 2010

Day #137

Grrr...I didn't walk today. I really don't feel well since my fall yesterday, in fact my upper body and arms hurt in addition to my knee. :o( I feel like I've been beat up! I argued with myself until around 7:30 tonight, and I finally decided to give myself a break.

Today is my 2nd no walk day since January 1st! :o(

Day #136

Okay...funny and painful! That's how I would describe my walk today! I slept in this morning, just like I promised myself I would do and it felt good. At around noon Tom, Keegan, Tyler, and I set off for Pearre Station. The boys wanted to go fishing while Tom and I walked our assigned section of the C & O to pick up trash. We had walked about 2 of the 6 miles when I fell. I don't mean stumbled, I don't mean tripped....I mean, I went down like a tree! Imagine a tree being chopped down in the woods...that was me!

Tom and I were talking about the lunch we were going to order which always includes an order of "Drunken Shrimp" if we go to the Lock House. Tom started doing the "drunken shroom dance", which I of course thought I could do better. I was moving and grooving when all of a sudden the looped shoelace from my right boot got caught in the shoelace hook on my left boot and I felt as if someone had lassoed me around the ankles. I was already moving forward but my feet stopped. I hit the ground hard with my right knee taking most of the force. I fell to the ground and laid there for a few minutes. I instantly felt nauseous and felt like I was going to throw up, but once that subsided I couldn't stop laughing. I must have been quite a site...my pants were ripped, my leg was bleeding--and I was laughing! Poor Tom didn't know what to do other than say over and over, "You'll be okay. You'll be okay." I still think my "drunken 'shroom" dance was better than his! LOL!

My knee is swollen and very sore and stiff tonight. Grrrr...I'm icing it, but it doesn't seem to be working!

Total walk: 6 miles

Day #135

Well, I can now comfortably say that after the walking I did today....I totally made up for the walks I took the last two days. Debbie and I went to NYC today and we logged an impressive 9.4 miles of walking! We walked and we walked and we walked...thank goodness for Google maps, because I was able to track how far we went. We had a great day and I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning!

Day #133 & Day #134

Double post! Quite frankly I've been way out of whack for the last few days. I haven't been eating quite right, I've had meetings and appointments galore, and my exercising is suffering because of it. I know things will get back to normal soon....I just have to ride it through!

Thursday: I walked for 31 minutes in the early evening.
Friday: I walked to school this morning(15 minutes) and I also went to the mall tonight and walked there for 30 minutes. (It was raining!)

Tomorrow I am heading to NYC for the day...I guess I will walk my little feet off! :o)

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Day #132

I'm in a foul, foul, foul mood today! I didn't get home from work until after 7:00 tonight. I went through Chick-fil-A to get dinner for the family and as soon as I dropped their food off, I got dressed and immediately headed back out the door. I went over to the mall and walked for 42 minutes. I know I usually complain about walking around the mall...but tonight I was very grateful that it was open! Rain and staying late at work...could have put a huge damper on my walking routine!

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Day #131

Today we had a day off from work and Debbie and I went to the C&O Canal for a long walk. We started in Shepherdstown and walked for 2 hours and 37 minutes. (Approximately 7 1/2 miles) It was overcast and the weather report called for a 100% chance of rain, but held off until the last twenty minutes of our hike. Our walk was fun...we even climbed a small hill and checked out a cave!

Monday, May 10, 2010

Day #130

I headed over to the track tonight....I walked/jogged for 14 minutes....I jogged for 13 minutes(a new record for me!), and I walked for 18 minutes...for a grand total of 45 minutes.

~My jogging goal#1:
10 minutes straight/Completed it today by running for 13 minutes straight!! (1 mile...the slowest mile ever, but I know I'll get better!)

~My jogging goal #2:
14 minutes straight

Day #129

Today was Mother's Day and I had a fantastic day! We went out to lunch at a place called Penn Alps and then we did a "sightseeing tour" of the area. It was windy and cold, but I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day! I walked for 20 minutes straight...and then on and off at each place we stopped. Technically it was a wimpy walk day, but it certainly didn't feel like it. I guess all together we walked for about 45 minutes.

Happy Mother's Day!

Day #128

Today Debbie and I walked the "Hill Walk" and it took us one hour and twenty minutes. The wind blowing through the long grass was beautiful and once again the weather completely changed the look of the walk....wild and windy baby! In fact, it looked a bit "Caminoish"!

Friday, May 7, 2010

Day #127

Short and sweet because I am very tired...I walked the "Buffalo Loop" tonight and it took me 55 minutes. The weather was absolutely perfect! Oh, I do need to mention this...I have officially lost three pounds. Wow...I only have 58 more pounds to go!

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Day #126

I walked to school this morning (15 minutes) and I walked/jogged at the high school track for 45 minutes earlier this evening. For twenty minutes I jogged half way around the track and then walked half way around the track...over and over again. After the twenty minute mark passed, I switched to jogging around the end of the track and walking the straight parts. It wore me out!

Apparently at some point during my walk/jog, I "boob dialed" Debbie without realizing it. I didn't have pockets in my shorts, so Ihad put my phone in my sport bra. The call went to voice mail and she was fortunate enough to hear me huffing and puffing around the track, which I'm sure was a delightful treat. What more could a person ask for whilst sipping an exotic drink and sitting in the hot tub and trying to relax with with her husband. What more you ask? A "boob call" that sounded like an obscene phone call...of course!

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

Day #125

I went over to BHE and walked/jogged for 45 minutes, and if you're familiar with the path, you know that part of it is uphill. The good news is that jogging is definitely getting easier. Read this carefully....please note that I didn't say jogging was easy! I walked half way around the track, and then jogged half way around the track and kept doing this until I finally worked my way up to jogging for 7 minutes straight! Yeah!

~My jogging goal#1: 10 minutes straight
~My eating plan went well today

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

Day #124

My eating plan went well today, so far it's easy to stick to!

I went over to the HS track tonight and I walked/jogged for 35 minutes. I walked the long part of the track, and jogged around the ends. (the ends are long!) It was hard but I definitely feel that it was easier than the last time I tried to jog!

Monday, May 3, 2010

Day #123

I can't believe I forgot to write this yesterday, but yesterday was my first day of my "Woman's Day Walker's Diet". I'm sure everyone is tired of my constant bitching and moaning when I say things like, "I can't believe I've walked ___ days and I haven't lost any weight!" That excuse is getting old, and since I'm not planning on quitting my walks anytime soon, I decided to put phase #2 into action. And what is pray tell is phase #2? Well, I was skimming through Woman's Day magazine about a week ago and I noticed a special diet they had for walkers. I know damn well it's only called that to sell magazines, but I thought it sounded like a good plan anyway.

I plan to label each day as "Women's Day Walker's Diet" if I stick with the eating plan for that day. I am committing to it for 30 days...and then I will re-evaluate the situation. A person can do anything for thirty days, right? Yesterday was my first day...so re-eval day is on May 31st.

Tonight Debbie and I did the Buffalo Loop and finished just as the sun was setting...it was a little muggy out there, but the breeze was a lifesaver! We walked for 58 minutes.

Sunday, May 2, 2010

Day #122

Today Debbie and I did the Country Roads walk...7.4 miles and it took us 2 hours and 26 minutes. Later in the day we had an appointment at a local spa...I had a facial and she had a massage. It was so nice and so relaxing!

Saturday, May 1, 2010

Day #121

Today was hot and humid, but I wasn't bothered too much by it because I worked on my website for for most of the day. I'm not sure if it was the thought of the heat or the fact that I wanted a break, but I pushed my walk off until VERY late in the day. I had pretty much figured that I would head over to the high school track to get a quick (wimpy) walk in...that was until Debbie called! She was on her way back from Morgantown and we (okay maybe it was me) decided that we would walk when she got back. Yeah, my walking buddy was coming home and I wouldn't have to walk alone! We walked the Buffalo Loop and we finished right as the sun was beginning to set--it sure was pretty out there tonight! Total walking time....1 hour

Debbie--I know it was a long day and you were tired--thanks for walking tonight!
