Why Are You Walking? Good question!
Let me "Walk" you Through It...

Day #180

I didn't get home from my conference until almost 7:30 and T & K walked through the door only about 5 minutes after I got home. Keegan needed for me to take him to get his haircut, and I NEEDED to walk, so I had to get VERY creative! I took my walk around the huge Target plaza for 35 minutes as Keegan got his hair done. Not much of a walk, time wise, so I walked hard and fast the entire time.

Day #179

I went to a meeting tonight and didn't get home until after 8:00. I walked in the door, kissed Pierre, and told him that I was heading back out to take my walk. He said, "Tonight?" To which I replied, "Of course, I walk every day!" He just laughed as I headed back out the door at 8:15. I walked for 45 minutes and walked back in the door just as the last bit of light was still illuminating the sky. Do know that time of day I'm talking about? When time seems to stand still --not quite light, but not quite dark either-- until finally slipping from day into night. There was one benefit for walking that late in the day...it was so much cooler!

Day #178

I went to PHF tonight to take my walk. As I was walking around the duck pond on the far side, I noticed a Kindergarten student from my school who was fishing with his dad and two brothers. When he saw me, he got so excited that it rendered him speechless for a moment. When he finally spoke he said, "Mrs. Schneider, the first thing I'm going to do when I go back to school is tell Mrs. Pearrell that I saw you!" I thought his response was so funny. It was June, we go back to school in August, and he was telling me that he was going to head back to his Kindergarten teacher to tell her the big news...Mrs. Schneider was walking around the fish pond! Funny! I walked for 45 minutes and it was hot, hot, hot!

Day #177

I waited as long as I could earlier this evening to let it cool off a bit, before heading out to Orr's Farm to walk. I did the Orr's Road/Arden Noville Road walk and I walked for a total of 45 minutes. Very quiet and peaceful--perfect!

Day # 176

I'm seriously losing steam...hot & humid weather paired up with an untreated sinus infection definitely don't mix! Debbie and I took a day trip to Berkeley Springs yesterday, and although I had a great time, I didn't feel very well. The only walking I got in was the scant amount I did whilst sightseeing...about a 20 minute walk down the C&O towpath. I had planned to walk in the evening but I was worn out...not good! I need to feel better and get walking again!

Day #175

I walked today--but I have no idea how far or how long. We went on a day trip to Cumberland, Maryland to ride the Western Maryland Railroad. We walked around Frostburg, Cumberland, and Hancock later in the day. My best guess....45 min to an hour of walking.

Day #174

I've still feeling pretty crappy--I think I have a sinus infection--and the heat and humidity only seem to aggravate how I feel. I promised myself that I would walk today, and I did, at the mall! My favorite walking place on earth, but at least it's air conditioned. I walked for 40 minutes.

Day #172 & #173

Monday, Day #172:
It was a hot one today and I spent the entire day indoors working on the website. I finally headed out the door around 7:30 and took a 30 minute walk around the neighborhood. It was a wimpy walk time wise, but it felt good to move my body after being stuck behind the computer all day. It sure was hot and humid!!

Tuesday, Day #173:
I am so tired of feeling crappy. I've been in bed for about an hour and I feel like I have the flu. I am so achy and tired....and I have a wicked headache. Tonight when I was walking at PHF, a place the I've walked a thousand times--I felt like I was going to pass out when I walked up a very slight hill. My heart started pounding and I was sweating profusely. Sure it was hot and humid...but how I felt was really weird. I stopped walking immediately and only walked for 35 minutes.

I'm not sure what's happening with my health, but something isn't right. :o(

Day #171

It's been a long time since it's happened, but I can honestly say I wasn't in the mood to walk tonight! I guess it's because it's hot and I was tired. I dug deep and decided that I was going to get out there, and I walked the "Lowe's Loop" for 45 minutes. I also have to admit that once I was out there walking, I was glad I laced up my boots and headed out the door! Quitting isn't an option, baby! :o)

Day #170

T & K came home between camp sessions and spent the day home relaxing before needing to head back to the next batch of kids. The three of us headed to PHF and we walked up, around, and over the hill for 50 minutes, and when we got back down to the bottom I walked for 20 more minutes around the flat area, and the boys fished for a bit while they were waiting for me.

Day #169

Today I walked for 45 minutes on the C&O Towpath in Williamsport, MD. It was a nice walk--lots of people were out enjoying the day!

Day #167 & #168

Wednesday, Day #167:
We drove to Seneca Rocks and all we did was WALK! We had a great time--beautiful scenery and beautiful weather. We climbed to the top of the peak which took us 50 minutes up and about 40 minutes on the way down.

Thursday, Day #168: My walk today wasn't as scenic as yesterday, but still a good one. I did the Big Mall Loop and I walked for 70 minutes.

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

Day #166

It rained for most of the day, so I wasn't sure what the evening would hold when it came time for me to walk. I headed over to Orr's (surprise, surprise) and walked for 40 minutes. After wards I went to Tropical Smoothie Cafe' and tried one of their...smoothies (another surprise!) It was very good but they only have one size and it's pretty big, and I got tired of drinking it about half way through.

Day #165

Day #165, Monday:
Well, I'm a day late posting this blog...but, hey that's okay, I'm on vacation! :o) Yesterday Karen and Kelsey joined me for my evening walk. I introduced them to the now famous "Buffalo Loop" and they really seemed to enjoy themselves. The weather was perfect, okay a little on the humid side, and it was nice to have company. The animals cooperated too--the bison, goats, peacocks, and long horn cattle were all along the fence line when we walked by. Easy viewing! The walk took a little longer than normal--70 minutes.

Day #164

I tried something new tonight, and I really enjoyed it. I walked down past the the bison and instead of turning around and walking back, I took a left onto Arden Noville Road. The view is fantastic along that strip of the road and at one part when the road got curvy and a bit dangerous, I walked under ripening cherry trees. Huge red cherries hung over my head in clumps--Yum!

When I turned back onto Orr Road I noticed how perfect the lighting was. That time between day and night when everything looks soft and perfect. A few steps farther I noticed that the only man-made noise I heard were my boots hitting the pavement. It was so amazing that I actually stopped walking for a moment. I finally continued and walked 3/4 of a mile back to the car and I didn't hear a single sound that wasn't part of nature's make up. It was awesome! I walked for 1 1/2 hours tonight.

Debbie (if you're reading this), they did a switch-a-roo with the long horn cattle and the bison. The bison (females and babies) are now in the field closest to Arden Noville Road, the male bison were in their normal spot, and the cattle are tucked away in a back field with only the tips of their horns visable through the tall grass.

Day #163

T & K came home yesterday because they had a 12 hour break before their campers arrived. We went out to dinner and they did some laundry. After dinner I walked to the mall, around it, and back home for a total of 45 minutes. It was disgustingly hot and humid--I didn't enjoy one thing about my walk, which is sad because I almost always enjoy my walks! It was great to see the boys, if only for a short time, and I know they're going to have a fantastic summer! :o)

Day #162

Pierre walked with me tonight and we once again headed over to Orr's Farm to walk near the Bison. I just love it out there and we had fun looking at all the animals and admiring the scenery. If I'm being completely honest, I looked at the scenery and Pierre was mesmerized by all the planes that were flying over us. We walked for a grand total of 49 minutes.

Days #160 & #161

Another double post!

Wednesday, Day #160:
It had poured on and off for most of the day, so I had pretty much resigned myself to the idea that I was going to have to take my walk at the mall. As luck would have it, Mother Nature had other plans for me. Debbie and I went to a nearby neighborhood that supposedly had a walking trial, but because the community wasn't completely finished, the walking trail didn't seem to be either. Every time we tried walking on the trail, only after a few minutes the path would abruptly stop and we were forced to walk in the street or on the sidewalk. Admittedly, the walk was kind of odd...but the good news is that we were able to walk for 48 minutes without getting wet! Shortly after we finished walking, it poured again!

Thursday, Day #161: Or otherwise known as: The Walk That Was Meant to Be!
Debbie told me that she couldn't walk tonight, so the plan was that I was going to go Lowe's with Pierre and then I would take my walk after wards. Well, of course, we took longer at the store than I had expected and it was pretty late by the time I got home. I decided that I would head over to the track and get in as much of a walk as I could before the sun went down. Meanwhile Debbie had called my cellphone telling me that she was available to walk with me after all. Long story, short...she walked with me and even though we got a really late start, we managed to walk for an hour. The sun was starting to set as we got back into the car to head for home.

Days #158 & #159

You can tell that I am out of sorts when I keep posting doubles, but the light, you know the one I mean-- the one at end of the tunnel, is beginning to shine brightly! Tomorrow is the last day of work, well at least until the summer is over. Did you hear that? Summer! Yes, I want to shout it from the rooftops! Okay, I lied...I want to scream it from the roof tops. Summer! Summer! Summer! I'm so happy that it's almost here. Me stressed? Nah! Not anymore! I'm proud that I got so much accomplished over the last few weeks.

Monday, Day #158:
On Monday Debbie and I did the Buffalo Loop Backwards, and I have to say that I didn't like it one bit. The weather was great, the company was great, but walking in the opposite direction felt--awkward. We walked and talked for an hour.

Tuesday, Day #159:

Question for the day: Do you think a person has the right to brag if their apples are bigger than everybody else's apples? Just wondering.

Debbie and I headed out to our regular stomping ground once again this evening and we walked for an hour. The brown speckled long horn calf was fun to watch--he had energy--me, not so much!

Day #156 & #157

I know the end of my 2-week stress stint is in sight, but I still don't feel under control. I've been extremely tired over the last few days. Tomorrow is the last day of school with the students and Wednesday is the last day for teachers. Both of the boys are off at their summer jobs in Pennsylvania and summer is right around the corner!

Saturday, Day #156:
I picked up Debbie fairly early in the morning and we headed over to Orr's Farm and walked the Buffalo Loop--60 minutes.

Sunday, Day #157:
Today was my wimpiest walk in a very long time, but somehow I think my body just needed to relax. I drove Keegan to Pennsylvania last night and I didn't get home until 10:00p.m. I slept in this morning until 9:00a.m...boy that felt good! For most of the day I worked on the website, then I went to the grocery, and managed to get in a very wimpy 25 minute walk. This evening I went to my friend's church to listen to a Russian singing group perform...they were great!

Friday, June 4, 2010

Day #154 & Day #155

Tired! I'm so tired!

Thursday, Day #154:
We were supposed to be at the airport in Baltimore at 7:15, so I went to the mall after school and walked for 35 minutes. I know....big deal but I really wanted to make sure I got my walk in. Little did I know at the time, but I could have walked for hours! Keegan's flight didn't arrive until 12:15 and I got to bed at 2:00 a.m.

Friday, Day #155:
I guess you're catching onto the theme by now...I'm tired. Bone tired! Debbie and I walked at the mall tonight for 40 minutes.

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Day #153

Stressful day--again! :o( Pierre and I headed over to Chick-Fil-a tonight for our free spicy chicken sandwiches. Good stuff! We sat and talked for over an hour. Sprinkle in a few laughs and we had a very relaxing dinner together. After we got home, I headed over to the track at the high school and walked for 43 minutes.

Tuesday, June 1, 2010

Day #152

I did the "Buffalo Loop" in record time tonight--50 minutes on the nose!

That's all--I'm tired--good night! :o)
